Wishfish Privacy Policy

Wishfish (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides the Wishfish iOS application and related backend services (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use Wishfish, we may collect the following:

• Account information. If you create an account with email and password, we store your email address and a hashed password. If you use Sign in with Apple, we store Apple’s stable user identifier and, when Apple provides it, your email address (which may be a private relay address).
• Saved fishing locations. Names, descriptions, types, seasons, and geographic coordinates that you choose to save.
• Tracks. GPS track points and related metadata (name, start/end times) that you record or import when signed in with an eligible subscription.
• Subscription status. Whether you have an active premium subscription and its expiration date, so we can unlock premium features on our servers.
• Device location. The App uses your device location (with your permission) on the device to show your position on the map, calculate distances, record tracks, and request weather for a place you select. Location is sent to our servers only when you save locations, sync tracks, or request weather for coordinates.
• Local device data. The App may store authentication tokens, subscription status, and fishing data locally on your device (for example via on-device storage) so the App works offline or faster.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the App’s features (map, locations, tracks, weather, and account sync)
• Authenticate you and keep your account secure
• Sync your saved data across devices when you are signed in
• Determine premium entitlement for subscription features
• Respond to support requests you send us
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Third-Party Services

• Apple. Sign in with Apple and In-App Purchases (including subscriptions) are processed by Apple. Apple’s privacy practices apply to those services. We receive only what is needed to authenticate you and verify subscription status.
• Open-Meteo. Weather for a requested location is obtained from the Open-Meteo API using the latitude and longitude you (or the App) provide. Those coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to return weather data.
• Apple Maps / system services. Map display and reverse geocoding may use Apple frameworks on your device.

4. Data Retention

We retain account and synced fishing data for as long as your account remains active. You may delete individual locations, tracks, or wishes in the App. If you want your account and associated server data deleted, contact us using the details below and we will delete it within a reasonable time, unless we must retain information for legal reasons.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information we store, including hashed passwords and access-token based authentication. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children’s Privacy

Wishfish is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

7. Your Choices

• You can deny or revoke location permission in iOS Settings; some features will not work without it.
• You can use the App without signing in for local-only features; account sync and some premium features require sign-in.
• You can manage or cancel Apple subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings.
• You can request access to or deletion of your account data by contacting us.

8. International Users

Our servers may be located in a country different from yours. By using the App, you understand that your information may be processed in the country where our servers operate.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
